Going to the Vicksburg Old Court House---Last Saturday

I have been to the court house a lot of times. I always enjoy the things on display. The court house was built in 1858. I learned that there were very important people that were speakers and hosted events. The people that spoke at the course house were Jefferson Davis, Ulysses S. Grant, Booker T. Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, and William McKinley. The items that are in the court house is the first teddy bear that Teddy Roosevelt gave 0ut after the event in the woods with the hunting exposition.
My favorite was the building itself. I know that sounds weird but I like the antebellum era type structures. How the building was designed and how it seemed to be a sound structure. The other items that I liked about the museum court house is the antebellum clothing for children, women, and men. The way the clothing was designed must have been very uncomfortable to the women due to them not having short designed dresses, in length. I would visit as soon as time lets me to go back

Going to the Archives Library (remembrance)

When I look back upon the day we went to the Archives. I remember that I had enjoyed the class trip to the Special Archive Collection. My favorite part that I heard about while I was there was the manual that was printed for the restrictions of the woman student during the 40s to 60s that went to University of Southern Mississippi. I could not believe the restrictions that the committee had put on the woman student body. I know that in this time and age woman can get away with almost anything and that we have little restrictions by society in how we dress.
My absolute favorite is the many collections we saw in the archived library is the many varieties of the Cinderella story. Cinderella was my favorite children's book when I was a child. I had other books that I liked but this was my absolute favorite. The other things that I saw that were interesting were the political cartoons, photos, and books that were written on the backs of wall paper plus the ones that were panted with designs. I hope to visit the Archives Library in the future to help do research for a paper.

October Fest----Saturday, October 3, 2009

I just love going to the October festival. I just love the food that the church serves each year. I went to the festival on Saturday after work and the smells of the sausages, cabbage, and the potatoes were the most delicious thing I have smelled all year. I don't usually have the typical festival foods. So, this is a treat and a half.
At the church, they sell desserts and other items that are usually in yard sells. My favorite are the desserts out of all the foods served at the festival, because they serve baklava. Some of the church members dress up in German costumes. This really makes you feel like you are in Germany and enjoying the outside air. I had a great time like always and hope that I can go back next year.

Going to the theater-----Thursday, October 1, 2009

Going to play at the Martha A. Tatum theatre was fun. On Thursday, I went to go see Hitchcock Blonde. This play was for mature audiences and the writers meant it by categorizing the play this way. The play was written by a British play writer. So the humor that was in the play was more on the level of British humor. So, some times I did not get what the joke was about.
I thought that this production of Hitchcock Blond was good, but could have toned it down on the sex talk just a little bit. The story line made it interesting in how the one group was trying to figure out what the director was doing in the early 20th century. The later group, the professor and student, were trying to figure out what this film director was doing with the original film from the early 20th century. They found out that the director was shooting a porn home video and that the director couldn't hold himself back from touching her this would not in the good way. Also, the director wants to reenact the home film and hires a woman to reenact the parts of the home video. The blond woman that was hired looked so similar to the woman in the film canister that it was uncanny to resemblance. Later in the play, you find out that he, the director, had killed her and put her ashes in a film canister for safe keeping. In the play, the professor and the student get to close and this makes them separate at the end. All I can say at this point is that it is better to see the play than read a review from me.
